Come join the Rotary Clubs of Modesto North, Modesto Gateway and Modesto Sunrise on Saturday, June 8, for the Canyon Classic Century bicycle ride. This is a great opportunity to help raise money for charity while engaged in a fun and healthy activity, as proceeds will benefit Make a Wish Foundation and other Central Valley charitable causes.
In its 24th year, the ride was originally organized as the Graffiti Century and was subsequently renamed when the start and finish was moved to Patterson so that riders could experience more varied and challenging routes.
With four routes, the ride can be equally enjoyed by novice and expert riders. The family-friendly Quarter Century ride features a flat route through the valley floor, while the Metric Century adds miles and the foothills above Patterson. For a real challenge, try the ride to Lick Observatory on top of Mt. Hamilton; approximately 90 miles round trip. When you reach the top you will receive the coveted “I Licked Lick” commemorative pin. The Century Route takes riders through the foothills, the Livermore wine country, Tracy, Grayson and back to Patterson. Along the way you will encounter some rollers, steep climbs and descents; truly a ride to remember. Both the Mt. Hamilton and Century rides wind through beautiful and picturesque Del Puerto Canyon.
All routes offer ample rest stops and rider support.
