Peak Season Picks - Strawberries

HOME
Refreshingly packed with vitamins and antioxidants, this "super food" reaches its peak of freshness from April through July.

 SELECTING YOUR STRAWBERRIES:

  • Look for bright red, plump, well-shaped and full-colored berries with a natural sheen and a fresh green cap.
  • Strawberries do not get any riper or sweeter after harvest, so the more color the better.

 STORING YOUR STRAWBERRIES:

  • Do not wash berries before storing; instead, wash them just prior to serving.
  • Place them in a single layer on a paper towel in a moisture-proof container.
  • They will last 2-3 days in the refrigerator.

 SERVING YOUR STRAWBERRIES:

  • Rinse strawberries thouroughly. With a small, sharp knife, remove the hull.
  • For maximum juice, slice strawnerries, sprinkle with sugar, and let them sit at room temperature for two hours.
